Privacy Policy

BillOfSale.app (“we”, “us”) provides a browser-based tool for generating bill-of-sale PDF documents. This policy explains what information we handle and how.

Data we collect

Account data (only if you sign up)

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided via Google sign-in)
  • Hashed password (never stored in plain text)
  • Purchase history (Stripe session IDs, plan tier, amount, currency)
  • Download history (filename, vehicle type, state — never the form data itself)

Form data you enter into a bill of sale

Seller, buyer, and vehicle details you type into a bill-of-sale form are processed entirely in your browser. The PDF is generated client-side. We do not transmit the contents of your bill of sale to our servers unless you are a signed-in user who chooses to save a form (feature pending). Anonymous users never send this data to us.

Payment data

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card details. We receive a customer identifier, the email address you used at checkout, and the amount you paid.

Technical data

Standard server logs, IP address (for rate-limiting and fraud prevention), and aggregate analytics (Google Analytics 4, Ahrefs Web Analytics). No third-party cookies beyond GA and essential session cookies.

How we use it

  • To generate and deliver the PDFs you request
  • To provide account features (sign-in, dashboard, purchase history)
  • To operate payments and issue refunds
  • To prevent abuse (rate limiting, fraud detection)
  • To improve the product (aggregate analytics only)

Data sharing

We share data only with service providers strictly necessary to run the product:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Vercel — hosting
  • Neon (via Vercel) — managed Postgres database
  • Cloudflare — DNS, edge CDN, email forwarding
  • Google — OAuth sign-in (if you choose it)
  • Google Analytics, Ahrefs Web Analytics — aggregate traffic stats

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or California you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing or withdraw consent

To exercise any of these rights, email support@billofsale.app. We respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use:

  • Session cookies — to keep you signed in and remember your pro access
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics for aggregate traffic data

Data retention

Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Purchase records: retained for 7 years (tax and chargeback disputes). Server logs: 90 days.

Children

BillOfSale.app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
