Provincial requirements (Ontario)
Ontario requires a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) for most private vehicle sales (family transfers are among the exemptions). The seller provides the UVIP, bought from ServiceOntario. The buyer pays 13% Retail Sales Tax (RST), not HST, at registration. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed to register and plate the vehicle within 6 days.
